Reisbureau Update
Every morning I wake up to the smell of coffee and I look out my window to see red, orange and yellow everywhere. For me there is no better view than the colors of autumn changing outside of your window.
I arrived in Lecco one hot afternoon, all around me were gigantic groups of students as I frantically tried to find the bus I needed to catch to Galbiate. Luckily Italians are always there to help you, whether or not they speak English! I was guided from one non-english speaker to the next, until I was led to two guys from Africa who happened to speak English and Italian, thank goodness. Arriving in Galbiate, I looked around and saw nothing reassembling the directions I received so I started to trudge up the hill, the only way was up, I assumed. Starting to sweat, a person suddenly called out my name, and I looked around in surprise to see two people (volunteers I later learned) waving at me. Together we made the horrible treck up the mountain, and thanks to Neshat's bad sense of direction, ended up going the difficult way. Normally I would say that a horrible start like that can never end up well, but the three of us were like long-time friends when we arrived at the top of the mountain 2 hours later, sweatier than grannies in a sauna...
I'm so happy, eating food everyday that is delicious (even though it's vegetarian!) and sharing stories with the other volunteers. Sometimes the days are tough, with lots to clean up, but days like today are my favorite when we're all artsy-fartsy, drawing, painting, cutting and snipping to make the hostel a nicer place, all the while drinking litres of tea. Or when we spend the whole day switching off who the DJ is, and luckily having similar music taste so we can go; Yes!! I love that song! And we sing along together with our different languages and accents.
For now I am going to stay here, to bring out my creative side and try to leave my footprint on the hostel! And then we'll see where life takes me next...
Misschien leuk!?
