Hi everyone,
What a great game last weekend - again! Janet and I were so impressed with the great effort all the boys put in, and the outcome was a pleasant surprise. With warm temperatures, no subs at all and none of our regular goalies there, the boys had an uphill go of it in the first half, and in spite of several spectacular saves by Dylan G. in net, we were down 3-1 at halftime.
We talked about where the other team was strong and what we were doing well and the boys took charge in the second half, keeping the play almost entirely in the other end and coming back with five goals, for a final score of 6-4 for us. It was a banner day for Dylan M who got a hat trick - with grandparents from Ontario watching . Dylan G scored a goal and made two beautiful crosses that Felix volleyed right into the net both times. Midfielders Noah and Jack and Boris were amazingly hardworking and persistent in challenging and successfully gaining possession time and again. The passing was masterful.
Special shout-out to Adam who was an absolute bulldog on defence - and I mean that in the best possible way - and Aaron who was fearless and saved our skin on a number of occasions with some really critical kicks that cleared the ball out of a vulnerable place. Extra thanks and kudos to Boris for stepping up and performing so well as goalie in the second half!
